This contemporary extension was built onto one of the oldest properties in Wentworth Falls. While the original home had plenty of character, it needed more comfort and practical living space for modern life.
The extension was designed around solar passive principles, with carefully positioned windows and the orientation of the new space working with the sun to help keep the home warm in winter and cool in summer.
The exposed burnished concrete slab absorbs and stores the warmth of the winter sun, while in-slab hydronic heating provides additional comfort when needed. Double-glazed Blackbutt windows complete the space, bringing warmth, natural light and a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.
The result is a comfortable, contemporary living space that complements the character of the original home while making it much better suited to modern life in the Upper Blue Mountains.
